FAQs

WHAT ARE BUSINESS (NON-DOMESTIC) RATES?

Business rates (known as non-domestic rates) are a form of tax levied on those entitled to the possession of a non-domestic property. During the occupation of a property, this liability falls on the leaseholder. Where a non-domestic property is left unoccupied, the onus of the rates charge falls on the property owner.

WHY USE BIZRATES?

Most existing services offering such solutions charge fees in excess of 20% of the rates saved. Our competitive pricing policy ensures that we will not be beaten on price whilst maintaining exemplary customer support where our all-inclusive services take care of every detail from start to finish.

WHAT ARE BUSINESS RATE RELIEFS?

When an occupier vacates a property, the non-occupying owner becomes liable for the rates. However, if the period of occupation lasted for 6 weeks or more, a rates relief period is extended to the owner. This relief is equivalent to 3 months of rates for commercial properties, and 6 months of rates for industrial properties.

IS IT LEGAL?

We ensure that all our offerings and services are fully compliant with the law. Our team of in-house lawyers regularly review legislation to assess and ensure the eligibility of all current and new projects whilst enabling us to continuously adapt and improve on our solutions.

WHAT DOES THE PROCESS INVOLVE?

Our intermittent occupation service finds short-term occupiers for the minimum required timeframe to exempt you from subsequent rates. These occupiers are selected to ensure non-invasive use of the property, allowing for continuous marketing of the property, whilst saving you up to half of your rates over a 12 month period.
